You will need to have realistic expectations of what a pig will require; access to outside space is a must as well as appropriate housing (see caring for your micro pig page) and of course an understanding of these pigs adult size.
Pigs are considered as livestock; so you will need to register for a County Parish Holding Number (CPH) to keep a pig, if you are residing in England or Scotland these can be obtained from the Rural Payments Agency (RPA). There is currently no charge and the process is relatively simple with a five minute telephone call. Their telephone number is 0845 603 7777. This normally takes 1-2 weeks to process, however can be processed quicker if you request it over the phone.
If residing in Wales you will have to contact Animal Health at your local County Council for this, the process is the same; however they seem to take a little bit longer in processing - so bare this in mind when organising your application.
